Patient Engagement

Engaging People with Dementia

Next ⇒ ⇒ Admission Procedure

At NIKISA Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital, we have created a make-believe system to help the patient function as a normal day. Patients will not have a feeling that they are in an unknown place with strange faces around them. To make the patient feel that they are a part of the community is a major role to keeping their brain and body healthy. Staff members are trained to greet and handle the patients accordingly.
Doctor’s Clinic: There will be doctor’s clinic on the campus. Dementia patients are known to repeat their activities several times in a day. The doctor will tend to the patient every time they visit his clinic. Pharmacy: On-site pharmacy will provide the necessary medication and non-medical equipment to the patients. If the patient is found to repeatedly procure an unnecessary item, it is brought back to the store and will be given back to the patient again. Post-Office: A fake on-site post office will provide Pre-written letters and messages from the patient’s loved ones on a fixed interval. For those who are wanting to talk to their loved ones, Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital has facility to arrange for a video call between the patient and their guests. On-Site Cafe: Patients who go for a walk might want to grab a quick bite. Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital has provided an on-site cafe for patients to serve refreshments. This makes the patient feel that they are not disconnected from their daily lives. No patient will be allowed into the kitchen or allowed to cook at any point during their stay at Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital. Newspaper and Fruits Vendor: There will be a newspaper and fruits vendor to provide the choice of newspaper and fruits for the patients. Patients will not be given newspapers or fruits in their rooms. Instead they are encouraged to engage in a dialogue with the people to procure a newspaper or fruit.
