Apart from the facilities provided in the wards and rooms, NIKISA Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital has other facilities and services to add diversity to the lives of patients.
The patients should live their lives at Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital in the way they choose. If the patient is not sleepy, they are free to wander outside their rooms. If the patient chooses to visit the doctor more than twice in a day, they are allowed to do so. The patients should feel at home and should not feel that they are being restricted or tied down during their stay at Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital
Horticulture Therapy: Patients are brought to the horticultural therapy section of Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital to help the gardeners plant, grow and maintain small plants and saplings. This is a proven therapy in many dementia centres around the world. The plants grown by the patients are specially labelled. Once the plant becomes mature, the patient’s guardian can plant the sapling in a desired location of their choice in the memory of the patient.
Sports and Games: Patients are encouraged to play badminton, table tennis and carom to keep themselves active and energetic. IF the patient is unable to play, they are brought to the play area to watch others play the games.
Memory Clinics: Nikisa Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Hospital will provide for a memory clinic within the campus for the patients. The primary goal of the activities in the memory clinics is to slow the deterioration of the brain cells. Memory games will also help the patient to maintain hand and eye co-ordination for their everyday activities.
Yoga: Yoga classes will be held for 2 sessions per week. Patients are accompanied to the Yoga area and are joined by care givers and nursing attendants. The Yoga course is specifically designed for helping air and blood circulation in to the brain while keeping other aspects also within the course.
